The Reel:

Whilst the internal engineering is a work of art, it’s the casting performance that you will be buying this reel for. The Super Slow 5 Oscillation generates amazingly smooth line lay that is proven to reduce friction and increase casting potential. But there are other features that contribute too.

Rigid Cast reduces spool deflection at the moment of release during a cast and Parallel Body sends the line at the perfect angle towards the first guide.

  X SHIP provides improved gear performance. Large diameter drive gear, optimally positioned pinion gear and drive gear, and two points bearings supported pinion gear produce light reeling under load.
• INFINITY DRIVE
  INFINITYDRIVE is a new main shaft supporting structure that improves winding torque and allows for incredibly smooth and light rotation.
• RIGID CAST
  Optimally balanced design of rigidity and lightness. By minimizing deflection of the reel caused by large impacts during casting, the timing of release is stabilized. As a result, not only flying distance but also accuracy is improved.
• SILENT DRIVE
  The basic design of the entire body and drive-related parts were reviewed one by one to reduce minute rattles, gaps, and shaking between parts down to the smallest detail. It provides smooth and quiet reel rotation.
• G FREE BODY
  G FREE BODY technology has been developed to shift the reel's center of gravity closer to the rod. By moving the center of gravity closer to the angler’s hand, the G FREE BODY helps to reduce fatigue and enhance casting comfort.
• PARALLEL BODY
  PARELLEL BODY is designed to improve dynamic line flow from the reel. On many reels the spool is aligned slightly upwards towards the rod blank, but reels with PARELLEL BODY have the spool located parallel to the blank. The result: less line slapping on the blank as it travels towards the first guide during the cast, ultimately increasing performance.
• AR-C SPOOL
  Shimano AR-C Spool features a special spool ring shape. This design effectively minimises the possibility of issues when line exits the spool, resulting in trouble-free line management and exceptional casting performance.
• CI4+
  CI4 is a resin material reinforced with carbon fiber that is lighter and has a higher strength than conventional resin material. CI4+ is an advanced version of the original CI4 material.The rigidity and durability have been greatly improved from original CI4 material while maintaining the lightness of the material, making it possible to reduce the size and weight of the reel.
• INSTANT DRAG
  INSTANT DRAG allows the drag setting to be switched from free spool to a 'fight' setting by tightening the INSTANT DRAG lever on the front of the spool in only a few turns.
• S A-RB
  S A-RB bearings are put through the same process as Shimano’s A-RB bearings but feature shields on both sides of the bearings. These shields reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the rotation of the bearing.

Designed to overshadow all previous offerings it’s category, the Shadow X has been purpose-built using our latest blank technology and price-conscious componentry to provide an unrivaled balance between price and performance. At the core of the Shadow X is an innovative T45 blank, built by rolling graphite tape at a linear 45-degree angle and reinforcing it with two sheets of graphite rolled at opposing angles.

This results in a notable reduction in weight, quick blank recovery, and exceptional sensitivity. To effectively leverage this, the blanks are built using custom mandrels designed to provide technique specific actions.

Shadow X surf rods are fitted with Fuji Lowrider O guides for exceptional casting performance, a Shimano graphite reel seat, comfortable EVA grips, and subtle silver winding checks
