Useful tip:

The colour denotes which side is the 'fine' grit and which is the 'coarse' grit. The lighter tone is fine, the darker tone is coarse. When sharpening a blade always begin with the coarse (darker) side - then switch to the fine (lighter) grit to finish the blade.
